Introducing Covenant Classical School of Sioux Falls

The seeds of Covenant Classical School were sown in the late fall of 2019 when a few pastors in town met up to discuss their desire to establish a non-parochial classical Christian school in Sioux Falls.

As those seeds were watered, one thing led to another, and by the next spring an Initial Team was formed with representatives from Emmaus Road Church and Christ Reformed Church.

Throughout the course of 2020, the Initial Team met monthly to cast a mission and vision for the school, establish a name and identity of the school, and solidify the doctrinal convictions that would define the school. As a result of those deliberations, Covenant Classical School began to emerge from the ground.

The school exists to glorify God by collaborating with parents to educate and form their children—both body and soul—in ways that are distinctly Christian and thoroughly classical (click the links to find out what we mean by those phrases). And it’s our aim that students and faculty from the school would:

  • Passionately love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength;

  • Genuinely display Christian character and virtue in all of life;

  • Eagerly apply the tools of learning in a lifelong pursuit of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge;

  • Winsomely engage the world around them with a Christian worldview; and

  • Courageously live by the truth.

If you are a family living in the Sioux Falls area, if you are passionate about classical Christian education (and our mission and vision above), and if you are interested in partnering with Covenant Classical School, please consider attending one of our informational meetings to connect with us.

Our lofty goal is to launch the school in the fall of 2021 with a limited number of classes available (TBD). And our long-term goal is to continue adding grade levels until we are a fully-functioning Kindergarten through 12th grade school.

If you would like to give financially to the school or find out other ways to get involved with the school, please click the “Get Involved” button at the top of the page.

Update: What’s behind the logo concept?

We chose the bison because it connects our school to our place—South Dakota. The bison represents the characteristics of strength, steadfastness, consistency, and courage. Not only that, but he is immovable and timeless. We want our school to share those qualities.

Next, we chose a symbol of water because it represents both the falls of Sioux Falls and it reflects the sign of the covenant in baptism. Thus, it emphasizes the name of our school.

And lastly, but most importantly, the cross represents that the foundation of our school is Christ. No other foundation will stand. It truly is Christus aut chao: Christ or chaos.
